A field notebook for anyone building with AI

You're not behind. You just haven't been shown how to build.

One build Monday. One move Thursday. Real people, real AI systems, shown end-to-end. Eight minutes, twice a week — whether you're a founder, an operator, a builder, or just curious.

Free 8 min reads One-click unsub

Two emails a week. Nothing else.

Mon · The Build

One AI system. Shown end-to-end. Real detail.

The story of how someone specific wired a specific thing into production — with the prompt they used and the failure modes they hit. Teardown-depth, not tweet-depth.

  • Hero number with receipts
  • Flow diagram of the system
  • 4-part playbook (what, how, the prompt, what breaks)
  • Named builder and the real source
Thu · The Move

The pattern worth stealing.

The architectural shift a more experienced builder would tell you about AI over coffee. The pattern, not the product. The lesson, not the launch announcement.

  • The shift being made and why
  • Concrete examples from real teams
  • When to make the move, when not to
  • What to read next

Anyone building, automating, or curious about AI.

01 Founders & CEOs Solo or leading teams. Want to know what AI actually ships in production, not what gets announced in keynotes.
02 Operators & execs Heads of ops, COOs, VPs owning AI rollouts. Need real patterns from teams that actually built the thing.
03 Builders & engineers Wiring AI into products, workflows, side projects. Want named systems, real prompts, honest failure modes.
04 Consultants & agencies Shipping AI for clients. Need patterns worth stealing and stories that land in pitch meetings.
05 Curious professionals Lawyers, marketers, teachers, analysts, designers — anyone who wants to use AI in their work without the hype.
06 The AI-curious at home Parents automating household chaos. Hobbyists building for fun. Anyone tired of rehashed press releases.

We also build the systems Mason writes about.

Mason is free because a newsletter is the fastest way to show how we think about AI. The business behind Mason builds AI systems and automations — for teams, for solo founders, for anyone who needs the thing the newsletter describes, done end-to-end for them.

Most issues will be exactly what you signed up for: real stories, real prompts, failure modes. Once in a while, we'll talk about the work we do. Not every week. Not mid-issue. Just honestly, in its own place, so you always know what you're reading.

If one of those issues lands at the right moment for you or your team, reach out. If it doesn't, unsubscribe is one click. Either way, the free tier stays free.

Free, twice-weekly, forever. Tell us a little about yourself so issues can get sharper over time.

Quick questions.

How often is Mason sent?
Twice a week. Monday at 7am your time (The Build) and Thursday at 7am your time (The Move). Every week, no skips. If we ever go on break, you'll know in advance — we don't just ghost.
Is it really free?
Yes, the newsletter is free forever. We make money on the consulting side — building AI systems and automations for teams, founders, and individuals who want the thing done right. Mason itself stays free because a good newsletter is the clearest way to show how we think about the work. A paid tier is on the roadmap eventually (archives, deep-dives, playbook vault) — and early subscribers will be grandfathered into free access when it launches.
What's the catch with the "occasional pitch"?
No catch — just being honest. Roughly once a month we'll run an issue about our own consulting work. Clearly marked, never mid-story. Most issues will be exactly what you signed up for: real people, real prompts, real systems. If you don't want the occasional pitch, one-click unsubscribe works every time.
Who writes it?
A small team that's been shipping AI systems for companies and individuals over the past few years. Each issue is researched, source-verified, and fact-checked before it ships. No ghostwritten garbage, no AI-generated slop, no content farms.
How is this different from every other AI newsletter?
Most AI newsletters summarize press releases. Mason tracks what people actually ship. We name the builder, link the source, show the prompt, list what broke. Every issue has to leave you with one concrete thing you didn't know before — or it doesn't ship.
Can I read past issues before subscribing?
Yes — scroll up to the Recent Issues section, or hit the archive link. No paywall, no signup required to read. Subscribe once you know it's worth your inbox.
What do you do with my email?
We send you Mason. That's it. We never sell, share, or rent your email to anyone. Your role / company size / country data helps us write better issues over time — it's not shared externally. One-click unsubscribe removes you completely.
▎ One more thing

We also build this stuff for you.

Mason is the free version — the stories, the prompts, the patterns. The paid version is us rolling up our sleeves and building AI systems, automations, or whatever AI thing you actually need — for your business, your team, or your life.

01 · For businesses

AI systems & automations

Internal tools, intake agents, classifiers, workflow automations. The kind of thing Mason writes about — built end-to-end for your team.

02 · For founders

Product-facing AI

AI features inside your product. Prompt engineering, evals, model selection, backend wiring. We've shipped this for SaaS, fintech, and agencies.

03 · For anyone

Whatever you need

Personal automations, research agents, content pipelines, home-ops systems. If it involves AI and you want it done properly — we'll build it.

Small team. Selective engagements. If it's a fit, we'll say yes. If it's not, we'll tell you.
